Personality

Altunogai is a man who is slow to anger, rarely says more than needed, but talks just enough to get what he wants. A man of contradictions, he is both secretive and open, grasping and exerting an air of control but entirely lacking it. An enigma, but open and plain in his speech. Charming, enticing, but utterly infuriating to those wanting to know more.

(OOC: Please note that everything on this page is purely ooc knowledge. The only reason i have included it is so you can enjoy reading altun's background, because it rarely comes up in RP unless your oc is very, very lucky.)

Darkness. Smoke. Constriction. Fire. Screaming. These were the defining senses Altun felt when his life properly started. Anything before this was long forgotten, eaten away by the fire that consumed his tribe due to a war he never signed up for. A mere seven years of life and memories he had grown up with turned to charr beneath his feet, a curse of burden cast upon him as the sole survivor. His mother sacrificed herself to hide him- to give him a future she knew she wouldn't see- a future he never asked for and didn't want without her. Laying in the ruins of his home, the silence after it was over felt just as loud as the chaos. Unable to move, only to stare at the few shreds of light and stars between heavy, charred pieces of wood.He was found days later by the Bairon tribe, thought to be dead until a girl heard him take a quiet, wheezing breath. It took him months of painful treatments and an infinite well of understanding and warmth from the tribe before he finally spoke again. Another few years saw difficult times for him, the girl that discovered him alive, Khaliun, helping him through his darkest times. Despite an instinctual fear of fire and darkness, and all the scars on his body that reminded him of his past, Altun eventually found a way towards something resembling peace. Though, he grew a harboring hatred for the Dotharl as he learned more about his tribe's history, but it only made itself known in conversations- the head of the Bairon making sure Altun didn't accompany them when they went to Reunion, in fear of a public outlash. He stayed with the Bairon for most of his life, well into his late twenties. Learning their ways of survival and finding a new, different type of family. Eventually, he fell in love and eternally bonded with Khaliun, their bond only growing stronger since that day she found him. Her parents and his friends noted that they hadn't seen him truly happy--

until the day of their bonding. Altun and Khaliun continued to stay with their tribe- Altun taking on the Bairon name after their ceremony, but never forgetting where he'd come from.It wasn't until his late thirties that Khaliun became ill. It was a slow type of sickness, starting with a persistent cough that medicine couldn't help. Over the course of two years, it morphed into something that kept her bed-ridden, Altun doing everything he could to take care of her- even bringing her into a mainland city, never having ventured outside the Steppe before, in a desperate bid to do something to help her.The day he was told there was nothing they could do, just to see she's comfortable until the sickness took her, is a day that burned itself into Altun's memory. It brought him back to smoke and fire from so long ago, feeling as helpless as he had when he had heard his mother's screams. But, he managed to keep his darkness from Khaliun. He put on a show of being brave and optimistic, and didn't once leave her side until the day she passed. He took time to mourn with his tribe, but knew that after such a loss, he couldn't stay. A difficult day of goodbyes saw him leaving, back to the city he'd ventured to before- Kugane. There, he made a new home. After the death of his wife, he was never truly the same- he became colder and more withdrawn, seeking what pleasures he could and leaving before things had a chance to go deeper. He'd soon taken up a job at one of the few things he was always efficient at- staying in the shadows. His hatred for the Dotharl drove him to become a Hitman, helping groups and those that needed him, sometimes taking up his own form of justice where he saw fit. He became known for his silent, less-obvious methods- poison and discretion, leaving those wondering if someone had died simply from a heart attack--

or if it was something more. This earned him the nickname 'Manan', which translates to 'Mist'.He now lives his life doing his work and finding as much time as he can to seek out small pleasures. He frequents more upscale, sometimes criminally-aligned venues, but ventures to others when the mood strikes him. Everything he does gives off the air of seeking distraction, avoiding anything that starts delving into deeper feelings.Altun is a man that is both insecure and confident, secretive and open, honest and deceitful. He can be an enigma or an open book, but one thing he's always open to is a free drink and good conversation. So, do try and seek him out if you wish. He'd be happy to show you a good time filled with talks about whatever you desire- and he'd most likely not be opposed to more, should you show interest. But, if your desire is to prod below his surface, it will take a lot of time and patience. Even then, efforts may be fruitless.

// ic actions have ic consequences.     Altun is not a traditionally 'nice' or 'easy' character to get along with. he has his issues and flaws, and tends to wear them both on his sleeve and buried deep within his pockets. this may cause tension and strife, and i will always be happy when or if he faces the consequences of his actions. please keep that in mind before your character interacts with him. if issues arise icly, do not take offense oocly! which segues me on to the next point . . .// ic =/= ooc.     My character will do things I wouldn't do myself, and your character will do things i personally don't agree with and that is fine! do not take ic actions to personal offense, or come into my dm's upset and asking why i did/said that. if this happens i will not hesitate to stop rp. if you have issues with scenes and mixing ic and ooc emotions, we can either talk it out and change the scene entirely or go our separate ways.

That is to say, I am willing to excuse it twice, as I know many people in this game have a hard time dealing with mean characters, since they aren't very common. But if you're having consistent issues separating real life with fantasy rp characters, i will not interact and cut off any current interaction, no matter how long-term the rp has become.

// discord.     i prefer rp via discord, as I am busy irl and don't have an exorbitant amount of time to rp in game. but, i won't give out my discord unless we've already had a few in game rp interactions. this is for my own comfort level, as i want to know someone is dedicated to long term rp before starting something up in a long term setting.// no drama, have fun!     I love rp and sharing my character with others. This is a game where rp is supposed to be fun, not stressful. if you try to bring drama to me, I will politely say that I don't want any part of it. if you try to start drama with me, i will gladly block you and move on. this is a game, we're here to have fun and celebrate stories/lore with each other, not take a trip back to high school.I am apart of the LGBTQia+ community. I will not support any kind of bigotry whatsoever. If your oc has their own biases and judgements, this is fine, but I will only write with them on a case-by-case basis as it can be done really well, or it can be done in an uncouth, offensive way.
